Romania’s current account deficit widened to EUR 3,186 million in October 2025 from EUR 3,128 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. This marked the largest deficit since records began in January 1997, as the services account surplus narrowed to EUR 934 million from EUR 1,020 million. Additionally, the deficit in the primary income account expanded to EUR 1,034 million from EUR 541 million, as well as the secondary income shortfall to EUR 175 million from EUR 34 million. Meanwhile, the goods account gap narrowed to EUR 2,911 million from EUR 3,574 million a year earlier. Considering the first ten months of the year, the country’s current account deficit reached EUR 24,636 million, higher compared to EUR 23,644 million in the same period a year ago.
