Industrial production in Romania rose by 3.7% year-on-year in May 2025, rebounding from a downwardly revised 2.1% fall in the previous month. This marked the first growth in four months and the strongest since May 2022, as output recovered for both the mining (0.5% vs -3.2% in April) and manufacturing sector (4.1% vs -2.7%). Additionally, production increased at a faster rate for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (7% vs 3.6%). On a monthly basis, industrial activity declined by 0.6% in May, slipping from an upwardly revised 2.6% gain in the preceding period.
