In Taiwan, Foreign Exchange Reserves are the foreign assets held or controlled by the country central bank. The reserves are made of gold or a specific currency. They can also be special drawing rights and marketable securities denominated in foreign currencies like treasury bills, government bonds, corporate bonds and equities and foreign currency loans.
Latest Updates
Taiwan’s foreign exchange reserves rose to USD 582.83 billion in April 2025, up from USD 578.02 billion in the previous month. The increase was driven by returns from foreign exchange reserves management and exchange rate movements of other reserve currencies against the USD. Additionally, the central bank also stepped in to smooth out volatile capital flows to maintain an orderly foreign exchange market. For comparison, reserves stood at USD 567.01 billion in April 2024.
