Others include: Clothing and Footwear (7.4 percent); Household Contents, Equipment and Maintenance (5.9 percent); Health (5.8 percent) and Miscellaneous Goods and Services (5.6 percent). Restaurants and Hotels, Communication, Education, Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and Recreation and Culture account for the remaining 17.3 percent of total weight. .

The annual inflation rate in Tunisia eased for the fifth straight month to 7.8% in January 2024 from 8.1% in December 2023. It was the lowest inflation rate since May 2022, due mainly to a slowdown in prices of transportation (3.6% vs 4.3% in December), housing utilities (3.9% vs 4.5%), and food & non-alcoholic beverages (12.1% vs 12.3%). Also, prices rose softer for furnishings & household equipment (7.4% vs 7.9%), miscellaneous goods & services (8.9% vs 9.2%), and health (4.2% vs 4.4%). Meanwhile, inflation was steady for both education (at 9.5%) and alcoholic beverages & tobacco (at 8.9%). On the other hand, prices accelerated for recreation & culture (5.3% vs 5.1%), clothing & footwear (9.8% vs 9.7%), restaurants & hotels (11.1% vs 11%), and communication (2.6% vs 1.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 0.6% in January, the same pace as in December.
