Natural gas markets have collapsed again on Monday, as weather reports are suggesting that perhaps it will be a warmer than usual winter in the United States.

Natural Gas Price Forecast – Natural Gas Markets Break 200 EMA

In this article:

Without a doubt, one of the main reasons why retail traders struggle to trade natural gas is that it is based upon the latest weather reports. This in and of itself is reason enough not to trade it, but I know that a lot of retail traders like this market. That being said, natural gas is an overly abundant modern-day, so at best it has three good months out of the year. To give you an idea of just how much natural gas there is in the United States, is known that there is at least 14,000,000,000,000 ft.³ in the ground right now just waiting to be extracted. Canada has even more. In other words, this is a market that you should only think about buying during the wintertime, and any other time it is to be sold and sold ruthlessly.

This winter is starting to really show up as a complete done. There will be one more spike in pricing, but at this point I am pretty much ready to throw in the towel and simply look at that as a selling opportunity instead of trying to pick out that last push that you normally get during the year. I have not had a decent set up since somewhere around $2.90, and at this point in time it is only about three or four weeks before we start trading spring contracts. In other words, what I am hoping to see now this point is a bounce towards the $3.20 level that I can start shorting into heavily to take advantage of the roll over.
