In Brazil, government budget value refers to the nominal budget balance, which comprises the central government, regional governments and public enterprises and also includes debt servicing costs and the nominal interest of the federal government.

Brazil recorded a nominal budget deficit of BRL 71.6 billion in March 2025, higher than the BRL 63 billion deficit recorded in March 2024. Deficits were observed by the central government (BRL 2.3 billion) and state owned companies (BRL 566 million). Meanwhile, regional governments reached a surplus of BRL 6.5 billion. The government's primary result was also positive, at a BRL 3.6 billion surplus, compared to BRL 1.2 billion in the same month of the prior year. Futhermore, Brazil's government debt decreased to 75.9% of it's GDP from 76.2% in February 2025.
