The annual inflation rate in Estonia stood at 4.5% in May 2025, unchanged from the previous month. Prices rose mainly for transport (6.2% vs 5% in April), driven by the car tax introduced at the start of the year and higher passenger transport costs. Additionally, costs continued to increase for communication (1.6% vs 0.4%), recreation and entertainment (4.9% vs 4.6%), and hotels, cafes, and restaurants (4.9% vs 4.4%). On the other hand, inflation moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.1% vs 7.4%), housing (2.1% vs 3.1%), and health (9.9% vs 11%), while it remained unchanged for clothing and footwear (at -4.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1% in May, easing from a 1% advance in the preceding period.
