In Sweden, because new orders heavily affect business confidence they are a leading indicator for growth in gross domestic product. The statistics is sample- and register-based and aims to measure short-term changes in new orders and turnover in industry on a monthly basis, in total and by industry, as well as domestic and export market. The survey is coordinated with other economy-based surveys.

Total orders received by the Swedish industry surged by 12.1% year-on-year in October 2025, following a downwardly revised 6.7% rise in the previous month. Orders received from customers in Sweden soared by 23.2% (vs 2.1% in September), while orders received from customers abroad eased to 4.6% (vs 10.4%). The largest increases were recorded in orders for transportation industry (60.6%) and capital goods (36.7%), while notable declines were seen in the manufacture of coal and refined petroleum products (-22.1%) and electrical equipment (-10.1%). Compared to the previous month, total orders rose by 4.7%. For the first ten months of the year, total industry orders were 6.4% higher than the corresponding period in 2024. The domestic market has increased by 2.7% and the export market jumped 9.0%.
