Global Stocks Rise on US Tax Reform Rewrite

It appears Congress may vote on the tax reform package this week and could approve the legislation.

Wall Street went on the weekend with a bang of trading activity as all three major Indexes gained. Trade Balance numbers from Japan were improved this morning. Inflation data will come from the E.U soon.

Dow Industrials Running Higher, Congress Needs to Approve Tax Reform

Investors reacted to the Senate’s announcement on Friday that it will push its tax reform legislation forward with solid buying on Wall Street. However, the final bill still needs to be approved by Congress and it is likely to be voted on this week. The Dow Industrials will open trading above the 24,600 level today, and the U.S Dollar will be watched to see if it continues to spark stronger.

Trader Balance Improves in Japan, Nikkei Surging this Morning

Trade Balance figures from Japan came in much better than expected earlier today. The Nikkei Index has surged in value this morning, as investors essentially mirror their American counterparts on Wall Street. Australian New Motor Vehicle Sales data showed a slight gain today. And the Yen has been range trading against the U.S Dollar and is near 112.70.

European Equities Post Gains, Industrial Orders Data from U.K

The Dax and Footsie Indexes have been able to produce slight gains the past month of trading. Talks between the European Union and U.K remain challenging concerning a Brexit deal. Today inflation data will come from the E.U which could prove interesting, while the U.K will release Industrial Order Expectations. The Euro and Pound lost value to the U.S Dollar before going into the weekend.

A Tranquil but Difficult Range for Gold, Early Downside Pressure

Gold enters the week before Christmas having experienced a fairly tranquil range the past couple of days. However, the precious metal has proven a difficult trade mid-term and it is near 1258.00 U.S Dollars an ounce and under slight pressure this morning.

European Union Inflation Data, U.S Housing Sector Figures

Investors will look at the Consumer Price Index reading from the European Union with interest upon its release at 10:00 GMT.

  • 15:00 PM GMT U.K., NAHB Housing Market Index
