I began reviewing forex brokers in 2021, after over a decade in the trading industry in Chicago, where I was a professional trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and a Series 3-licensed futures and forex broker. I took an active role in developing our rating system based on my experience of what traders value. For this Alchemy Markets review, I used a demo trading account. Here is a summary of my findings:
Best Fit For: Experienced day traders, scalpers, and algo traders who can benefit from MT4, MT5, VPS hosting, FIX API, and custom tools from FXBlue. Forex traders can access a wide variety of pairs, while those trading indices will appreciate tight spreads on DAX and Dow.
Less Ideal For: Long-term investors due to the lack of non-CFD instruments. Traders focused on CFDs on shares may be disappointed by high commissions and limited selection. Beginners and casual traders may be put off by high initial deposit requirements.

Alchemy Markets stands out for its setup for experienced, short-term traders. My research showed that the broker supports this by offering the MetaTrader 4 and 5 platforms, free VPS hosting, FIX API, Trading Central signals, MetaTrader add-ons, and raw spreads via the VIP account.
For this review, I performed my tests on MetaTrader 4 using the desktop platform and MT4 mobile app. The account was opened with Alchemy International Ltd. Some features and services may vary depending on where you reside.

Alchemy Markets operates three entities, with a presence in the EU, UK, and offshore. Client funds are held in segregated accounts, and negative balance protection is guaranteed. During my review, I found the broker to be transparent in key areas like regulation and fees. The Malta-based broker also has a substantial 10-year operating history.
| Entity Features | Alchemy Markets Ltd | Alchemy Prime Limited | Alchemy International Ltd |
| Country/Region | Malta/EU | UK | Seychelles/International |
| Regulation | MFSA | FCA | FSA |
| Tier | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| Segregated Funds | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Negative Balance Protection | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Compensation Scheme | ICF Up to €20,000 | FSCS Up to £85,000 | No |
| Maximum Leverage | 1:30 | 1:30 | 1:500 |
When reviewing a broker, we examine how each of its entities is regulated and assess how effectively they protect clients. We use a three-tier system to rank regulatory bodies, with Tier-1 being the most trusted and offering the highest level of protection.
This is what I discovered about the three entities operating under the Alchemy Markets brand:
Brokers operate multiple entities to serve clients globally, yet regulatory protections vary by jurisdiction. Some regulators enforce strict financial standards, while others are more lenient. Traders should understand the protection offered by the entity where they intend to open an account.
In our Trust category tests, we also cover factors related to stability and transparency. Here, we focus on the broker’s operating history, size, and overall credibility.
Founded in 2016, Alchemy Markets has a solid 10-year operating history. The company is headquartered in Malta and reports having 201 to 500 employees worldwide.
I found the company to be transparent overall, and during my review, I was able to easily find key information. The About Us page covers the company’s background; commissions are covered in the Accounts section; regulatory info is listed in the website footer, and the finer details can be found in the Legal Documents section.
To conclude, I rate Alchemy Markets as having a better than average level of trustworthiness and stability due to the following factors:
✅ Two entities licensed by top-tier regulators
✅ Substantial operating history.
✅ Fair level of transparency
✅ Client funds are segregated
✅ Negative balance protection
❌ Accounts at the offshore entity are not insured
My tests on the Classic account showed that trading costs mostly range from average to high. One exception is indices, which had tighter spreads than most competing brokers. Commission rates are high, adding substantial costs to CFDs on crypto, shares, and futures. Keep in mind that Alchemy Markets has two other account types – Premier and VIP – that offer more competitive trading costs but require much higher deposits.
I tested the spreads at Alchemy Markets during the London open and just after the New York open on 24 March 2026. At these times, the market is typically highly liquid with the tightest spreads.
| Instrument | Live Spread AM | Live Spread PM | Industry Average Spread |
| EUR/USD | 1.7 Pips | 1.7 Pips | 1.2 Pips |
| GBP/JPY | 2.8 Pips | 2.8 Pips | 2.9 Pips |
| Gold | 32 Cents | 31 Cents | 36 Cents |
| WTI Oil | 5 Cents | 3.5 Cents | 4 Cents |
| Apple | N/A | 9 Cents + commission | 33 Cents |
| Tesla | N/A | 7 Cents + commission | 51 Cents |
| DAX 40 | 1.9 Pips | 1.9 Pips | 2.6 Pips |
| Dow Jones 30 | 2.8 Pips | 2.5 Pips | 3.7 Pips |
| Bitcoin | 10 Cents | 10 Cents + commission | $51.45 |
My tests showed that pricing is most competitive in indices, with both the DAX 40 and Dow 30 beating industry averages. Commodities are closer to the benchmark, while spreads in shares and crypto are very tight, but the additional commission brings the cost much higher.
In addition to spreads, Alchemy Markets charges commissions on crypto, shares, and futures that vary by account type:
| Asset | Classic Account | Premier Account | VIP Account |
| Crypto | 0.35% Round Trip | 0.30% Round Trip | 0.25% Round Trip |
| Shares | 0.35% Round Trip | 0.30% Round Trip | 0.25% Round Trip |
| Futures | 0.012% Round Trip | 0.010% Round Trip | 0.008% Round Trip |
Let’s consider an example in Apple (AAPL). If you were trading 100 shares of AAPL, you would need to pay the spread of 9 cents, plus 0.0035 of the total value of the trade. If AAPL is trading at $255, the round-trip cost of the trade would be 9 cents x 100 ($9) plus $89.25 (total value of 25,500 x 0.0035), equaling $98.25. This is quite a hefty commission.
In the table below, you can see the Swap Long (the cost/credit of holding a buy position overnight) and the Swap Short (the cost/credit of maintaining a sell position overnight) for one full-sized contract.
In forex, a full-sized contract is 100,000 units of the base currency (the first currency quoted in the pair), or 100 ounces in the case of gold. The swap rates were recorded on 6 February 2026.
| Instrument | Swap Long | Industry Average |
| EUR/USD | Charge of $6.88 | Charge of $7.64 |
| GBP/JPY | Credit of $9.58 | Credit of $7.74 |
| Gold | Charge of $57.49 | Charge of $65.65 |
According to my research, the swap fees are fairly average for the industry.
Alchemy Markets charges a fee of $30 per month (or the equivalent in your base currency) after 3 consecutive months of inactivity. This is more expensive than industry norms.
To help you understand how much you’ll pay to trade each instrument, I calculated the cost of trade using the formula: spread rate x pip value + commission rate (swaps are not included).
| Instrument | Alchemy Markets Classic Account | Industry Average Total Commission |
| EUR/USD | $17 | $6.99 |
| GBP/JPY | $17.92 | $12.55 |
| Gold | $31.50 | $17 |
| Crude Oil | $42.50 | $29.74 |
| Apple | $98.25 | $26.14 |
| Tesla | $126 | $43.24 |
| Dow Jones 30 | $26.50 | $23.90 |
| Germany 40 | $22.42 | $19.90 |
| Bitcoin | $241.50 | $25.98 |
I found that Alchemy Markets presents a mixed bag when it comes to fees via the Classic account, based on the following key points:
Alchemy Markets offers the robust MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms, as well as the more beginner-friendly TradingView platform. Experienced traders can benefit from features like access to expert advisors (EAs) within MT4 and MT5, while TradingView offers a more modern interface and unique features like its built-in social network. However, the broker lacks a proprietary platform that would help it to stand out from competitors.
| Platform/Tool | Suitable For |
| MetaTrader 4 (Web, desktop, mobile) | Experienced traders, day trading, scalping, algo trading, backtesting, trading signals, copy trading |
| MetaTrader 5 (Web, desktop, mobile) | Experienced traders, day trading, scalping, algo trading, backtesting, trading signals, copy trading |
| TradingView | Beginners, casual traders, experienced traders, social trading, news trading |
Alchemy Markets offers the MetaTrader 4 platform, which includes advanced functions such as automated trading.
MetaTrader 4 is available in 39 languages, from Arabic to Vietnamese. The platform provides popular features, including the following:
MT4 charting features are advanced and include:
I ran my tests, using my preferred chart type (Candlesticks), which you can customize by color and background, and with popular indicators like Bollinger Bands and MACD.
MetaTrader also delivers when it comes to the range of available order types. The platform offers these order types:
As one of the most popular trading platforms in the world and the only one offered by many forex brokers, I have spent a lot of time testing MT4. The platform’s look and feel are a bit dated, and I feel there is room for improvement in design and usability.
Still, MT4 is a highly versatile platform that outperforms many competitors. It offers advanced charting, a comprehensive range of order types, and popular features such as one-click trading, trading directly from charts, and customizable alerts.
Its desktop platform stands out with advanced features, including the ability to run and backtest automated strategies, making it a powerful tool for skilled traders. However, its steep learning curve makes it better suited to experienced traders than to beginners.
Alchemy Markets offers the MetaTrader 4 mobile app for Android and iOS. The app offers popular features such as alerts, 1-click trading, and trading from the chart.
Charting within the app offers:
The MT4 app also provides standard order types, including pending and stop orders. However, trailing stop-loss orders are only available from the desktop.
To change the language in the MT4 app, you must set your phone’s language.
As with the desktop platforms, the MT4 app’s interface is not highly intuitive, but it offers a solid range of features. I rate it as a reliable option for placing trades and managing your account on the go.
Like all CFD brokers, Alchemy Markets is the contractual counterparty to client trades. It describes itself as a Straight Through Processing (STP) broker operating an A-book risk model, meaning it typically hedges client positions externally with liquidity providers such as banks or prime brokers. In practice, this reduces potential conflicts of interest compared to a B-book model, where the broker keeps client trades in-house and may profit when they lose.
Alchemy Markets offers over 300 CFD instruments, spanning forex, indices, crypto, shares, ETFs, metals, and energies. These include both spot and futures contracts. The broker stood out to me with its strong range of forex and crypto instruments. I rate the range of assets as sufficient for a wide range of strategies and broad market exposure.
| Instrument | Number | Type | Industry Average |
| Forex Pairs | 80 | Major, Minor, Exotic | 30–75 |
| Commodities | 26 | Metals, Energies | 5–10 |
| Indices | 13 | US, UK, EU, Austria, Hong Kong | 5–10 |
| Stocks | 125 | NASDAQ, NYSE | 200–300 |
| ETFs | 18 | US | 20–50 |
| Cryptocurrencies | 60 | Major and Minor | 10–20 |
Compared to the industry, Alchemy Markets offers above-average coverage in forex, commodities, indices, and especially crypto. However, there is room for improvement in shares and ETFs.
To better illustrate the range of instruments available at Alchemy Markets, I compiled samples from various asset classes below:
| Forex | Shares |
| AUD/USD | EUR/CHF | NZD/CAD | USD/TRY NOK/SEK | Airbnb | Nike | Target | Blackrock | Ford |
| Indices | Commodities |
| CAC 40 | Hong Kong 50 | Australia 200 | FTSE 100 | Dow 30 | Gold | WTI Crude Oil | Copper | Zinc | Brent Crude Oil |
| Crypto | ETFs |
| Ripple | Tron | Dogecoin | Polkadot | Dash | ProShares UltraPro QQQ | Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF | Sprott Uranium Miners ETF | State Street SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust |
Alchemy Markets offers 24/5 assistance via live chat, email, and phone. I received prompt responses and satisfactory answers via live chat and email, but I was not able to reach an agent by phone. I rate the support as average for the industry, with room for improvement.
| Live Chat | Phone | |
| 24/5 from the website | support@alchemymarkets.com | +248 467 1951 |
I tested Alchemy Markets’ customer support with dozens of questions covering platforms, fees, and account-related issues. Via email, I typically received replies within a day. Via live chat, I reached a human operator within a minute or two. Answers were generally clear and thorough. But when I called the Seychelles number, I couldn’t reach an operator.

Alchemy Markets offers a diverse range of deposit and withdrawal methods, including bank transfers, credit cards, digital wallets, and crypto. Processing times are fast and mostly free of charge, but fees apply to Skrill and Neteller (deposits and withdrawals) and bank transfer (withdrawals only).
Note: I haven’t deposited real funds for the purposes of this review.
| Method | Fees | Processing Time |
| Bank Transfer | $0 | Between 2-3 Days |
| Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, and Visa Electron) | $0 | Instant |
| Skrill | 2.9% | Instant |
| Neteller | 2.9% | Instant |
| Apple Pay | $0 | Instant |
| Google Pay | $0 | Instant |
| Crypto to Fiat | $0 | Up to 10 minutes (depending on network speed) |
According to Alchemy Marlets’ website, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit cards offer the optimal combination of instant processing and zero fees. Bank transfers are free but slower, while Skrill and Neteller are instant but charge a 2.9% fee, making them less cost-effective.
| Method | Fees | Processing Time |
| Bank Transfer | 5 GBP or 5 EUR or 35 USD | Up to 2 business days |
| Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, and Visa Electron) | $0 | Up to 1 business day |
| Skrill | 2.9% | Up to 1 business day |
| Neteller | 2.9% | Up to 1 business day |
| Apple Pay | $0 | Up to 1 business day |
| Google Pay | $0 | Up to 1 business day |
| Crypto to Fiat | $0 | Up to 1 business day |
I found that most withdrawal methods are relatively fast, at up to 1 working day, while bank transfers are a slower option and come with a fixed fee. I consider credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and crypto the best value options because they combine zero fees and fast processing. Again, Skrill and Neteller have the 2.9% fee, which is a drawback.
Alchemy Markets offers three retail account types: Classic, Premier, and VIP. The Classic account starts at $1,000, while the Premier account has a $5,000 minimum and features tighter spreads and lower commissions. The VIP account requires a $50,000 minimum deposit and provides raw spreads and the lowest commissions. Demo and swap-free accounts are also available. Minimum initial deposits are higher than the industry average across all account types, which reduced the broker’s score in this category.
Opening a live account with Alchemy International Ltd is a quick online process that can be completed within a few minutes. You need to provide the following information:
In my experience, this short account registration process is typical when you are signing up with an offshore entity. I opened a demo account that required only basic personal details.
| Account Feature | Classic | Premier | VIP |
| Starting Deposit | $1,000 | $5,000 | $50,000 |
| Spreads | Variable spreads | Variable spreads | Raw spreads |
| Spread Only | Forex, Indices, Metals | Forex, Indices, Metals | Forex, Indices, Metals |
| Spread + Commission | Crypto, stocks and futures | Crypto, stocks and futures | Crypto, stocks and futures |
| Stop Out | 50% | 50% | 50% |
| Base Currencies | USD, EUR, GBP | USD, EUR, GBP | USD, EUR, GBP |
| Swap-free Account | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Accounts differ mainly in the required initial deposit size and in pricing. Classic and Premier accounts offer variable spreads, while the VIP account provides access to raw spreads for high-volume traders. The account minimums are among the highest I have encountered in my reviews, which might be a serious dealbreaker for casual and beginner traders.
Alchemy Markets offers demo accounts via MetaTrader. Demo accounts are especially important for beginners as they allow them to practice their strategies and get comfortable with the trading platform without risking real money.
The demo account features live quotes and simulates real market conditions for assets such as forex and CFDs on commodities, indices, and stocks. Once users are up to speed on a demo, they can easily switch to a live account.
Alchemy Markets offers a swap-free account for traders who follow Sharia law. The account removes overnight interest charges while still providing access to the broker’s platforms and core trading features.
One of the reasons that traders are attracted to the forex and CFD markets is the high degree of available leverage. Leverage is the use of borrowed funds to increase the size of your trading positions beyond what would be possible using only the cash in your account.
For the Alchemy International Ltd entity, the maximum leverage is 1:500 (verified April 2026). This means that with an account of $1,000, you can control up to $50,000 worth of positions in the market. For an offshore broker entity, this level of leverage is fairly standard. While it can increase potential returns, it also significantly raises risk.
Leverage is often described as a ‘double-edged sword’ as it can hurt you as much as it helps you. Traders should keep in mind that it can amplify both their profits and their losses.
Alchemy Markets’ leverage varies by asset class, as illustrated in the following table:
| Asset Class | Maximum Available Leverage |
| Forex | 1:500 |
| Metals | 1:100 |
| Energies | 1:100 |
| Indices | 1:100 |
| Shares and ETFs | 1:20 |
| Cryptocurrencies | 1:10 |
Alchemy Markets does not offer services to residents or any other country where such distribution or use would be contrary to local law or regulation, such as Russia, Ukraine, Iran, the USA, and Malaysia.
Alchemy Markets shines in the research category, with a steady flow of well-crafted reports from its in-house team, coupled with analysis by third-party Trading Central and tools from FXBlue. Research resources provide high-quality insights for active, short-term traders. I found the Featured Ideas section of Trading Central the most useful, as it calls out specific chart patterns and directional bias. I rate the offering as better than the industry average.
The Market Insights section at Alchemy Markets is a research hub focused on short-term analysis, technical setups, and macro-driven commentary. With actionable ideas, the analysis is best suited to active traders, like day traders, scalpers, and news traders.
Themed reports like ‘Chart of the Day’, ‘Weekly Outlook’, and ‘Opening Bell’ include a mix of technical analysis and fundamental drivers like central bank policy and economic releases. Reports cover a broad range of assets, including forex, commodities, indices, and crypto. I liked that the analysis goes beyond the theoretical to provide actionable trading ideas.
Alchemy Markets clients can access Trading Central research within the client portal. The Technical Views section offers bullish or bearish setups with key levels, Market Buzz tracks real-time news and social sentiment to highlight trending assets, and Featured Ideas provides trade ideas based on chart patterns.
Alchemy Markets clients can also access MetaTrader tools from FXBlue that enhance trading with sentiment analysis, correlation data, and faster execution. MetaTrader add-ons like Market Manager help to better manage trades in real time, while the Correlation Matrix allows you to analyze asset correlations instantly.
Alchemy Markets provides a well-rounded research offering, combining in-house analysis with Trading Central research and FXBlue tools. The focus is on actionable trading ideas, key price levels, and macro-driven catalysts, geared towards active, short-term traders. I especially liked focused reports like the Chart of the Day and practical tools like the Correlation Matrix MetaTrader add-on.
Alchemy Markets also provides strong educational materials, including sections on classic chart patterns, Japanese Candlestick patterns, and in-depth guides to basic and intermediate concepts. These are supplemented with live education via webinars. Educational materials are more slanted towards beginners, but I also found some content that could be useful to experienced traders.
I went over the Candlesticks section at Alchemy Markets and found that it does an excellent job of explaining how to read price action using candlestick patterns like the Harami and Shooting Star. It shows how to identify potential price reversals and continuations, and how to use other technical indicators to improve accuracy.
Materials include in-depth, practical guides to improve your trading. For example, the Volume Footprint Chart Complete Guide shows how traders can analyze buying and selling activity at each price level to better understand market behavior and identify potential reversals and breakouts.
Alchemy Markets also offers regular live webinars on topics like trading gold, covering the macro backdrop, key market drivers, and major price levels to watch.
Malta-based Alchemy Markets is an established CFD broker that launched in 2016. It offers the popular MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, and TradingView platforms but lacks a proprietary option.
Perks include free VPS hosting, FIX API, research from Trading Central, and MetaTrader add-ons from FXBlue. The broker offers a wide range of CFD assets, notably strong in forex and crypto, but leaving room for improvement in shares.
Client protections such as segregated funds and negative balance protection are in place across all three of its entities, although compensation schemes are limited to UK and EU clients. Overall, I found the broker to be reasonably transparent in key areas like regulation and trading costs.
Fees are mixed and depend on the account type. While index pricing is competitive and raw spreads are available on the VIP account, the Classic account trading costs are mostly more expensive than average. Commissions on shares, crypto, and futures are substantial. Swap fees are broadly in line with the industry, but the inactivity fee is high.
Overall, I rate Alchemy Markets as best suited to experienced traders, including day traders, scalpers, and algo traders who can take full advantage of its advanced platforms and tools. While it’s not a good fit for long-term investors looking for access to traditional assets like real stocks and ETFs, it offers a solid trading environment for active, short-term CFD traders.
Please note that for this review of Alchemy Markets, I did not use live accounts to test spreads or deposit/withdraw real capital. My tests were also limited to the MetaTrader 4 platform.
