Producer prices in Brazil fell 0.36% month-over-month in April 2025, easing from a 0.62% drop in March and marking the third straight month of deflation. Prices declined in both the extractive (-4.43%) and transformation (-0.17%) sectors. Among 24 industrial activities, six posted declines, with the sharpest seen in petroleum-related products (-3.37%), chemical products (-1.08%), and metals (-1%). On the upside, prices rose for pharmaceutical products (2.87%) and hygiene items (1.26%). Food prices, the index’s heaviest component, climbed 0.72%. Annually, producer prices rose 7.27%, the slowest pace in five months, down from 8.37% in March. The transformation industry led the yearly increase (8.16%), especially metallurgy (15.52%).
