Robinhood Markets, Inc. (HOOD) stock has pulled back to a key pivot zone that could signal either a continuation of the decline or a major support area that may attract buyers. The decline to a low of $86.21 on Thursday was the result of a bearish reaction to its Q2 2026 earnings report released after the market closed on Wednesday. The company offers a retail-focused financial platform for trading a variety of financial assets.
Thursday’s low was a successful test of support at the confluence of several indicators, including the 20-week moving average near $86.81, the 100-day moving average at $86.44, an uptrend line, and the initial high of $85.00 from August 2021 that followed Robinhood’s IPO. This concentration of support makes the $85.00-$86.81 area an important test of whether the earnings-driven decline can stabilize and lead to strength.
Although the 2021 peak was broken as support during the recent pullback from the $153.86 peak in October 2025, it was respected by weekly highs several times this year. If Thursday’s low holds as support, then the 2021 high will have been reconfirmed as support, and therefore a further recovery from the price zone becomes more likely. Other signs of strengthening include potentially successful backtest of support at key moving averages. Together, these signals could indicate that the current pullback is testing support rather than establishing a new leg lower.
Despite the potential for strong support near $86.21, HOOD remains under downward pressure by trading below its 200-day moving average at $99.57 and having recently established a lower swing high at $120.05. The 200-day moving average previously marked dynamic support for the uptrend. Once it switches to a resistance indicator, as it did during the formation of the lower swing high, bearish pressure can begin to dominate price action. A sustained move back above the 200-day moving average would therefore be an important sign that the intermediate bearish pressure is weakening.
Therefore, support could fail and a bearish signal could be generated on a decisive decline below $86.21. The next lower target would then be the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement at $83.21, followed by a higher swing low at $73.26. A daily close below the 100-day moving average and the 78.6% retracement would solidify the bearish near-term outlook.
Notably, the recent channel advance from the March low of $63.52 can be considered a large bearish flag formation. A trigger for that pattern would begin with a failure of the key support zone noted above. In other words, the $85.00-$86.81 pivot zone is the immediate battleground between buyers and sellers. If it holds support then a recovery is possible, while a decisive breakdown would open the door to the flag’s bearish implications and the lower targets that follow.
