The index also includes: clothing and footwear (6.9 percent); transport and communication (4.2 percent), recreation, entertainment, education & cultural services (4.1 percent); miscellaneous goods and services (3.6 percent); medical care and health expenses (2.8 percent) and furnishing (2.7 percent).

The annual inflation rate in Bangladesh eased to 8.48% in June 2025, down from 9.05% in May. This marked the lowest reading since July 2022, driven by a slowdown in food and non-alcoholic beverage prices, which saw their smallest increase since April 2022 (7.39% vs 8.59% in May), while transport inflation also moderated (6.43% vs 6.64%). Also, inflation slowed for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (17.55% vs 21.48%) and health (4.24% vs 4.78%). Meanwhile, inflation accelerated for housing and utilities (7.66% vs 7.45%), communication (7.85% vs 7.79%), recreation and culture (8.26% vs 7.78%), education (8.39% vs 8.22%), hotels (11.09% vs 10.99%), clothing and footwear (15.40% vs 15.35%), furnishings, household equipment & routine household maintenance (8.84% vs 8.76%), and miscellaneous goods and services (15.25% vs 13.84%). Monthly, consumer prices rose by 0.57% in June, rebounding from a 0.32% decline in the previous month and marking the fastest monthly increase in three months.
