Food prices in Malaysia rose 2.1% year-on-year in September 2025, up from a 2.0% increase in the previous month, registering the steepest gain since June. Costs continued to increase for fish and other seafood (1.5% vs 2.3% in August), oils and fats (1.3% vs 1.4%), sugar, confectionery, and desserts (0.7% vs 0.6%), and food away from home (4.4% vs 4.3%). Meanwhile, the price of food at home was unchanged after a 0.1% decline in August, as were milk, dairy products, and eggs (vs -1.4%). On the other hand, prices fell further for cereals and cereal products (-0.6% vs -0.6%), meat (-0.1% vs -0.5%), fruits and nuts (-0.1% vs -0.7%), and vegetables (-5.5% vs -6.5%).
