The cryptocurrency space is mostly dominated by men. However, several companies are working on inclusive programs that would see more women enter the cryptocurrency space and take up key positions.

Zuckerberg to Encourage More Women to Venture Into Crypto

Cryptocurrency exchange OKCoin has announced that it had hired Randi Zuckerberg to serve as a brand advisory council member. The cryptocurrency exchange said Zuckerberg would advise on projects including allocating contributions to organizations and supporting efforts to bring more women into crypto careers.

She will also help OKCoin sponsor women-run blockchain technology programs, support women-run crypto projects, and more. Zuckerberg stated that she joined the OKCoin team in a bid to encourage more women to enter the crypto space.

She stated that “It’s always been a passion of mine to inspire and support women in technology, investing, and leadership, and I’m looking forward to continuing to do so as a member of Okcoin’s brand advisory council. Cryptocurrency has huge potential to make massive strides in creating a more equitable system, and it’s an honor to join in the Okcoin mission to create a more inclusive future of finance.”

OKCoin said it would dedicate $1 million to attract more women into the cryptocurrency space. The exchange said it intends to reach 50% female cryptocurrency customers by 2025. Zuckerberg is the former director of market development and spokesperson for Facebook.

Facebook rebranded to Meta a few weeks ago, and the social media giant now allows cryptocurrency companies to advertise their products and services on its platforms.

Number of Women in Crypto is Relatively Low

Recent statistics have shown that the number of men in the cryptocurrency space is far greater than women. According to CNBC, twice as many men as women invest in cryptocurrencies (16% of men vs. 7% of women).

Furthermore, only 15% of cryptocurrency traders are women, with men dominating the crypto trading scene. The efforts by entities such as OKCoin would help bridge the gender gap in the cryptocurrency space.
