Latest Updates
The economy of Bolivia advanced by 1.4% from a year earlier in the fourth quarter of 2022, decelerating from a 4.3% growth in the previous three-month period. It marks the seventh consecutive quarter of expansion, albeit the slowest since the last quarter of 2021, amid the impact of civil unrest of 36 days in the Bolivian province of Santa Cruz, which had economic repercussions in the exporting sectors of agroindustry, services such as restaurants, hotels and commerce, as well as in transport logistical activities. Output growth slowed considerably in transport & communications (3% vs 10.1%); internal trade (0.2% vs 2.6%) and primary activities (0.1% vs 1.8%), while it declined in other activities such as crude oil and natural gas (-9.2% vs -4.8% in Q3) and manufacturing (-0.9% vs 4.4%). Bolivia's GDP grew 3.5% year-on-year in 2022, compared with a growth rate of 6.1% in the previous year.
