In Slovakia, industrial production measures the output of businesses integrated in industrial sector of the economy. Manufacturing is the most important sector and accounts for 85 percent of total production. The biggest segments within Manufacturing are: Motor vehicles (33 percent of total production); computer products (7 percent); machinery and equipment (5 percent); basic metals (5 percent); rubber products (5 percent); fabricated metal products (5 percent); coke and refined petroleum products (4 percent); and electrical equipment (4 percent). Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning account for 13 percent of total output, Water collection, treatment and supply account for 1 percent and Mining and quarrying account also for 1 percent.

Industrial production in Slovakia dropped by 4.5% year-on-year in November 2025, slipping further from a 3.8% fall in the previous month. This marked the second straight month of decline and the ninth contraction this year, led by electricity and gas supply, which plunged 18.8%, the sharpest fall since March 2022, following a 15.5% fall in October. Transport equipment output also weighed, dropping 6.7%, the third weakest monthly result since March 2024, partly due to a high comparison base. Meanwhile, the most positive impact came from metal production, rising 5.2% from 2.8% in the prior month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output increased by 0.9%. Considering the January to November period, overall industrial production decreased by 2.6% compared with the same period last year, with electricity & gas supply, metal production, and machinery & equipment being the largest drags, while gains in transport equipment partially offset losses.
