Top One Trader was founded in 2023 and is based in the United States. In the course of this review, I tried the innovative $25K Nova Challenge, a unique challenge for this industry. The platform I used was TradeLocker, and I was enticed by the “pay full price after you pass” aspect. I only had to pay $7 to start.
I found the Nova Challenge interesting, and the customer support was fast. These are a couple of the main highlights at Top One Trader, but the offering, as far as assets, felt a little sparse. While the firm offers 39 Forex pairs and 15 global indices, the rest of the markets offered weren’t very numerous.
There are a few major limitations that traders will run into here. The news trading situation is something that can be an issue for some of you, as well as the profitable trade time necessary. Top One Trader requires that profitable trades last at least 5 minutes, and news trading isn’t allowed; trades cannot be opened or closed 5 minutes before or after a major announcement. While the news restriction isn’t the harshest rule that I have seen, the fact that a stop loss or take profit order being hit in that time frame counts as a breach is something I found difficult to reconcile.
Top One Trader has a lot of rules for traders, and they change based on many factors, with each type of account having a few unique ones. It is crucial that you read through the FAQ section for each account that you are looking to trade. The company has a history of payouts, so it at least seems legit, although many traders will find the environment difficult. It certainly favors swing trading more than anything else.

Top One Trader does have a good reputation as being trustworthy. On payout junction, the company has processed over $5.8 million in payouts, with the largest one being $62,714, in October 2024. This is a strong sign for a company that has only been around for just under three years. The FXEmpire Trust Score of 3.5/5 is mainly due to the fact that they are fairly new to the marketplace. It has earned a Trustpilot rating of 4.5/5 from over 3,200 reviews. Prop Firm Match has a similar score of 4.5/5 for Top One Trader. There is mainly a positive reaction from traders, judging by the reviews I read, with most of the complaints being about the drawdown rules, something that should be clearly known before trading.
The support is something that I found impressive, although the first step would be the AI chatbot. The biggest complaint that I have is that the various trading rules are different in some accounts, which leads to some confusion. However, this is a prop firm that seems to be very accommodating overall.
Founded in 2023, Top One Trader is based in the United States, but doesn’t list its location clearly on the site. However, the “registered office” is in the Autonomous Island of Anjouan in the Union of Comoros. It’s a bit confusing, but this is what I found. This is common for ease of regulation reasons.
While looking at the LinkedIn profile, it seems that there are quite a few of the 29 employees and officers based in California, with Matt Morris being the CEO. Co-founded with Clay Hodges (CTO) and Brycen Coffman, it has seen a strong growth trajectory since its inception. With over 3,000 total payouts adding up to just under $6 million, the payouts show real potential for traders to thrive if they can stay within the rules.
Trustpilot is one of the first places traders will go to when searching for feedback on how a prop firm performs. Top One Trader has a solid 4.5 rating out of 5 from over 1,500 reviews. Traders have stated overwhelmingly that the experience with Top One Trader has been positive, with particular praise for their staff’s professional behavior, problem-solving, and the exceptional customer service with this firm. One of the key themes is the fast response times.
However, in late May, there seems to have been a pattern of traders complaining about account drawdown breaches happening without proper cause. There has been some response from the company, and in one case, suggesting there may have been a technical issue with at least one of these traders. [Check Date: 15 June, 2026]
Top One Trader holds a 4.4 out of 5 rating on Prop Firm Match based on 161 reviews, with 71.4% of those being 5 stars. Being listed on Prop Firm Match means that Top One Trader has passed an evaluation process by the site, adding more credence to the variability and fairness of the firm from a trader’s perspective.
Many prop firms have a habit of hiding rules on their websites, or choose to bury them in a mess of articles, and the standard “Help Section.” At Top One Trader, it was a bit of a challenge at times, as there are so many options, as well as restrictions; I had to write down notes to determine what I could do where. The website has the feel of something that is a “work in process” in the sense that they may have simply added along the way, while they try to determine what the business model will end up being.
Trading Rules Transparency:
Trading rules transparency is a bit of a mixed bag, but it is presented prominently in the challenge description area. What I mean by this is that it changes frequently, as to what is acceptable and what is not. The firm will sometimes also offer add-ons to work around the rules, and it can make for a confusing problem, especially for those who are relatively new to trading.
News Trading Rules:
News trading is all but impossible at Top One Trader. The one account that allows it is the Instant Prime Account, but only after buying the add-on. The other accounts all ban executing orders 5 minutes before or after a “red folder” news event, based on a couple of calendars. The real kicker here is that this includes both stop loss and take profit orders. It won’t necessarily get your account closed, but you will lose any profits, and the website is somewhat vague about exactly when they will flag you for an account closure. I suspect this is a real problem. For what it is worth, it does say in the Help Section that trades that are over 5 hours old won’t be counted as a violation if they get triggered to close.
Consistency Rule:
Top One Trader is all over the place with this part of the rules. There is no consistency rule for the 1-Step and 2-Step challenges, but when it comes to Instant Funding, there is a 15% consistency rule. This means that no one day can be more than 15% of your total payout. This is quite tough, to be honest.
Consistency gets even more restrictive in the Instant Prime and NOVA Challenge funded phases. This is where Top One Trader employs something called the “Equity Stability Score”, which states that the “combined total of your most profitable trading day and your largest losing day must not exceed 20% ot your total profits during the payout period.” In short, there are a lot of potential issues that you must be aware of. For those who have steady equity curves, this is probably able to be worked around, but this will also limit the amount you make on any one particular day; you will have to earn a lot more to fall within the “ESS.” Ironically, I can say the same thing about losing days.
Minimum Trading Days:
The minimum trading days rule will depend on which challenge you end up buying. The 1-Step challenge states that you need 3 winning days of over 0.5%, while the 2-Step states the same. (However, it isn’t shown on the front page. I found this in the Help Section.) The Instant Funding account has the 15% consistency rule to cover this, and the Instant Prime requires the ESS and a minimum of a 2% gain from your initial balance. NOVA Challenge accounts also need the ESS cleared, and a gain of 2% from your initial balance.
The payout method used by Top One Trader is via RiseWorks, a third-party platform. This allows traders to be paid by bank transfer or crypto, which also means you need to open a RiseWorks account – although that process is straightforward. In the FAQ section, it states that the typical processing time can take 24-48 hours, as the risk team does a detailed risk review.
Payout Junction states that Top One Trader has paid out over $5.9 million, with the largest payout being $62,714 in October of 2024. Be aware that on Trustpilot, there are a few complaints about accounts being breached prematurely, but in all fairness, with the large amount of rules to be followed, it could just be due to confusion.
Website:
Top One Trader has a sleek and modern website that showcases many of its offerings up front. It is a bit busy in places, though, and the amount of offerings can get somewhat convoluted. The FAQ section is fairly extensive, but also seems to be somewhat outdated in places. For example, there are a few places where oil is mentioned, but I couldn’t find that as an offering anywhere.
While the website is informative, it can be a bit overwhelming. It has the feel of a website for a firm that has made several changes in the last few years, and therefore is a bit patchwork in places. This isn’t necessarily a negative, but it does require a bit of extra effort by the end user in places.
Social Media:
Top One Trader has Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X, and Discord profiles. Instagram has over 38,000 followers, X has over 11,000 followers, with YouTube and Facebook bringing in similar numbers. All of their social media seems to be fairly active. From all accounts, the Discord community is active as well, especially between traders.
Risk Management:
The risk management parameters are enforced in multiple ways. The dashboard does feature live tracking of the daily drawdown limit and the total drawdown limit for the account.
The prohibited strategies are somewhat extensive and should be kept in mind. Some of the various rules include high frequency trading, latency trading, copy trading or group trading, hedging or group hedging across multiple accounts, news trading on funded accounts (with exception of trades that had be active for more than 5 hours), grid trading, martingale strategy, 3rd party trading, masking of Expert Advisors, gambling/overleveraging, rolling/churning of accounts, and using multiple IP addresses. There isn’t really a way to keep track of these rules on the dashboard, so the trader will have to be aware.
The overall risk management setup encourages disciplined trading, as there are so many guardrails that you will have to navigate. While somewhat daunting, it is also fair to say it enforces professional trading behavior.
I personally bought the $100K NOVA Challenge to test out this broker, watching the dashboard, execution of trades, and also tested support to see how Top One Trader fares. I primarily tested the New York and Asian sessions and found no real issues with the trading itself.
Keep in mind that Top One Trader doesn’t allow news trading in general, although you can buy the add-on in the Instant Prime account. That being said, if you are trading on fundamental announcements, this firm will not work for you.
Trading itself was fine, but in this day and age, trade execution shouldn’t even be a thought. The platform I used was TradeLocker (I am an American), which I found good, as I am used to it. That being said, I suspect many of you will opt for MetaTrader 5.
The Daily Drawdown rules can change depending on the account you choose, as some are static, which is the simplest rule, but most have an end-of-day trailing drawdown. The biggest issues I had were the inability to close a position due to a news spike, unless it is at least a 5-hour position. This is by far the biggest problem I have had.

At FXEmpire, we have a proprietary algorithm that we use to measure and set a difficulty score. Metrics such as time limit, minimum profitable trading days, consistency rules, EAs, and profit-to-drawdown are all taken into account. From a total of these inputs, we get a normalized score. Top One Trader got a 50, putting all challenges into the moderate tier. That being said, I would also point out that there are a lot of potential rules that could be broken, and traders will have to be diligent.
One-Step Challenge: The One-Step Challenge has lower leverage, offering 1:10, but has a reasonable trailing drawdown of 7%. The Minimum profitable days of 0.5% shouldn’t be an issue for most traders, assuming they can hit the target. The ability to hold trades over the weekend is also a big help. Like almost all challenges, news trading, and a ten-minute hold around those events is a bit tough for some.
Two-Step Challenge: The target/loss limit ratio is an advantage of the two-step version of Top One Trader’s offerings, with higher leverage than the One-Step Challenge. The max loss limit of a whopping 9% makes this challenge particularly interesting for most traders. The downside would be the lack of news trading here.
Instant Funding: Instant Funding accounts are going to be for the most disciplined traders, as a 3% daily loss limit will demand it, and a 6% trailing maximum drawdown only reinforces this. The consistency score of 15% won’t be doing most traders any favors either. Only those who are consistently profitable and okay with trading slow and steady will feel at home here.
Instant Prime: Instant Funding Prime accounts are going to be a bit difficult for most, as the small Daily Loss Limit of 2.5% from the previous day’s closing balance is tough. The overall maximum trailing drawdown of 5% doesn’t help either. The cost, depending on the account size, is actually higher than the “buffer” in the sim account. Further complicating things for traders will be the need to stay within the 20% “Equity Stability Score.”
Nova Challenge: Perhaps the most interesting challenge is the Nova Challenge, which allows traders to get involved in a challenge for $7 and only pays when they pass the challenge. Furthermore, if they fail the challenge, there are unlimited retakes. The funded version of this has a 20% “Equity Stability Score” that you must follow, so this will get tougher as soon as you pass. The Daily Loss Limit of 3%, Max Trailing Drawdown of 6%, and the target of 5% makes for a reasonable combination. It is worth noting that leverage drops from 1:100 to 1:30 once the account is in the simulated funded phase. This, to me, seems like a bit of a trap, as the rules becoming much stricter after passing the evaluation could get some traders into trouble quickly.

Prop firms will often claim to accept different trading styles, but there is almost always some caveat to the rules. Top One Trader has several rules that a trader may need to be aware of, depending on the style they choose. The firm isn’t suitable for scalpers, as there is a minimum amount of time necessary for profitable trades. News trades are also highly restricted here once the trader reaches the simulated funded account level.
News trading is allowed in the evaluation account phases. However, it is prohibited within a window of 5 minutes before or after a high-impact news event in simulated funded accounts. If you are in the position more than 5 minutes before the event, and stay in it, then there is no breach of the rules.
However, if a stop loss or take profit is hit in that ten-minute timeframe, then it will be a violation, and any gains will be forfeited. If a position is open for five hours before this happens, then it isn’t considered a violation. This encourages longer-term swing trading more than anything else, in my opinion. It is considered a soft breach, but continued violations can be cause for termination of the funded account. High-impact news events are red foldered events listed on FXStreet and RebateFX calendars.
Swing trading is allowed at Top One Trading, but there is one caveat: With Instant Funding accounts, you will need to buy the add-on to hold over the weekend.
Scalping is not permitted at Top One Trader. There is a minimum hold time of 5 minutes on profitable trades before they are closed. This includes achieving take profit orders, stop loss when set in profit, closing manually, and partial closures.
Accounts can be reviewed by the Risk Team, which can lead to being forced to retake the challenge or just an official warning. On a simulated funded account, profits from breaches will be deducted from profits. Traders will receive a formal warning first, but repeated violations will lead to account termination.
Day trading is difficult at Top One Trader, with a minimum hold time for trades being necessary. (5 minutes for profitable trades, and 5 minutes before and after high-impact news in simulated funded accounts.)
Leverage will vary depending on the instrument, with 1:10 for indices and metals, up to 1:100 in Forex with an available add-on, and 1:1 with cryptos. There are 39 Forex pairs, 15 indices, 2 metals, and 2 cryptocurrencies.
Top One Trader allows EAs on most accounts, but the PAYDAY accounts cannot be traded using them.
Copy trading is allowed at Top One Trader, but must be done between two accounts that you own, either with Top One Trader or with others. However, if you make the same trades as others, it will be flagged by their risk management system. This can lead to termination, or at least forfeiture of any gains.
There are 39 Forex pairs (depending on platform), Gold / Silver, Bitcoin / Ethereum, and 15 global indices available for trading at Top One Trader.
Top One Trader’s challenges range from $7 for a Nova Challenge to $2537 for a $200K Instant Funding account. The wide range of costs can make choosing a challenge within reach for everyone, but the costs involved can be calculated on a “True Cost Per Dollar” metric, to allow for more clarity on each challenge or instant account.
In general, the TCPD metrics are good, and many of the accounts are above industry standards. This means that you get more usable trading capital here than you might with others.

True Capital per Dollar (TCPD)
One of the most common mistakes that traders make is thinking in terms of the nominal account size. The reality is that the actual account size is only the maximum drawdown limit. Unlike a live account, where you have 100& of the trading capital to risk, in prop firms it is a set amount, usually under 10%.
An example might be a $100K account with a 6% drawdown limit. This means that you can only lose $6,000, no matter what the account size is. The trader needed to keep that in mind when taking risks into account.
TCPD shows how much real usable trading capital you are getting for the price of the account, measured in terms of how many dollars you get for each dollar paid. The higher the TCPD, the more “value” you are getting.
Formula: TCPD = (Account Size × Max Drawdown %) ÷ Challenge Price
| Account | Max DD | Price | TCPD |
| $100K (1-Step) | 7% | $575 | $12.17 per $1 |
| $50K (2-Step) | 9% | $435 | $10.34 per $1 |
| Challenge Type | Funded Drawdown | Average TCPD | Industry Benchmark |
| 1-Step | 7% | $9.57 | $7.90 |
| 2-Step | 9% | $11.75 | $14.39 |
| Instant Funding | 6% | $3.99 | $4.98 |
| Instant Prime | 5% | $4.67 | $4.98 |
| Nova Challenge | 5% | $9.28 | N/A |
Top One Trader offers no refunds.
Top One Trader’s trading conditions are generally ok, but can be a bit strict at times. The added restrictions can vary, depending on the challenge you choose. Some restrictions are very difficult to overcome, depending on your trading style. As far as spreads and commissions, I have found that the majority of commissions and spreads were average to the industry. I saw no real outliers in my research.
-Key finding: The biggest struggle I had with Top One Trader was the fact that there are so many different rules for different accounts, that it is difficult to figure out what exactly they are trying to be. This is a firm that you will have to do a lot of calculating to figure out whether the rules set are workable for you. This seems to be a way to collect fees more than anything else from what I have seen.
-Key positive: The biggest positive I found was the NOVA Challenge, which allows a trader to put just a few dollars down and pay for the challenge once they pass. This is a big deal, as the average trader fails several attempts before finally passing. However, it is worth noting that the “Equity Stability Score” that applies to the funded account is a big problem.
-Key limitation: There is a period of time during which you cannot execute a trade 5 minutes before or after a news event. This includes a stop loss or take profit trade being hit. However, you can buy a news trading add-on for the Instant Funded accounts. This is a big issue, as a sudden spike could cost you, as they will remove the profits, if any, and if it happens an unspecified number of times, they will close the account.
I tested the $25K Nova Challenge, using the TradeLocker platform. I traded mainly in the US and Asian sessions, finding the execution to be fast and the overall behavior of TradeLocker to be good. I experienced no noticeable slippage in my tests, although, as you are not allowed to trade news, it wouldn’t be expected to be an issue.
The dashboard was straightforward and gives you all relevant information as far as the profit and loss you have made, the drawdown levels, both from a daily and total level, as well as a quick reference page that has hyperlinks to the rules section, something you must be careful not to ignore.
TradeLocker, Match Trader, and MetaTrader 5 are all available at Top One Trader. The spreads are really tight, some of the best I have seen in a prop firm overall. The test was good, and everything you would want to work did so, exactly how you would ask it to. The biggest problem I had was with some of the rules, like the rules that you must hold any profitable trade for at least 5 minutes for it to be counted.
Top One Traders uses various types of leverage in both evaluation and funded stages of their many account types. It is highly recommended that traders make sure they know what they are allowed as far as leverage before buying a challenge, as the conditions will change as you move past the evaluation stage in many account types.

Top One Traders has a fairly common cost structure, as they charge commissions and spreads. The amount of spread is variable, and the spreads shown below are based on midday New York session trading.
The fees are based on a flat commission structure of $2.50 per lot per side, with another fee of $3.50 for crypto. The markets will have swap at the end of the session, but this will vary, which is common for most places.
In general, the spreads are a touch higher than industry standards, which could cause issues for shorter-term traders, but with the 5-minute minimum winning trade holding period, this isn’t the broker for a scalper to begin with. Swing traders will more likely than not be minimally affected, although it should be noted that paying higher fees and swaps can add up over the course of time.
Top One Trader has variable spreads, meaning that the spread can change depending on liquidity and market conditions overall. This is something to keep in mind, as they charge both spreads and commission. In general, the spreads are slightly higher than the industry average.

| EUR/USD | 0.6 pips | 0.1-0.4 pips |
| US30 (DOW30) | 3 pips | 1-2 pips |
| Gold | 2 pips | 1-2 pips |
| Bitcoin | 15 pips | 15-40 pips |
Top One Trader charges $2.50 per side, per lot in all assets, and on all platforms. However, crypto has a separate $3.50 charge per side on top of that commission fee.
Swap fees are constantly changing here, as with most places. The swap is determined by the liquidity provider, which in and of itself can change. Because of this, you will have to check swap fees for a position you put on when pressing the button.
The site has a spot where it describes swap, but as it is a constantly moving number, you will have to check on the platform yourself when the time comes to trade.
The following fees are calculated using a full lot, without the swap. Again, remember that the spreads can change, so this is used as a general barometer more than anything else.
| Instruments | Trading Fee (w/o swap) | Industry Average |
| EUR/USD | $6 | $1-4 |
| US30 (DOW30) | $30 | $10-30 |
| Gold | $20 | $10-20 |
| Bitcoin | $15 | $15-40 |
| Strategy | Top One Trader Interpretation |
| High Frequency Trading or Tick Scalping | High-frequency trading involves executing an excessive number of trades in seconds to exploit market inefficiencies. Tick scalping involves holding positions for seconds that must last more than 5 minutes if they are profitable. |
| Latency Trading / Arbitrage Trading | Executing trades based on delayed market data or exploiting execution delays is strictly prohibited at Top One Trader. |
| Copy Trading / Group Trading | You may copy trade between accounts that you own. However, you cannot copy trade others, or use a group of traders to copy trade in tandem. |
| Hedging or Group Hedging Across Multiple Accounts | Hedging using multiple accounts, whether at Top One or other firms, is prohibited. Their risk parameter software can detect this at other firms as well. |
| News Trading on Funded Accounts | In the funded phase, traders cannot execute new orders or close trades within 5 mins before and after high-impact news events. However, if the trade was opened at least 5 hours before, its stop loss or take profit can still be triggered without violating the rule. You cannot execute manual orders at all. |
| Grid Trading | Grid trading, which involves placing both buy and sell orders on the same instrument with similar risk parameters, is prohibited by Top One Trader. |
| Martingale Strategy | Martingale Strategy, involving increasing your trade size after losses, aiming to cover losses with a future win, is prohibited. |
| 3rd Party Trading or “Pass Your Challenge” Programs | Allowing third-party traders to trade on your behalf is strictly prohibited by Top One Trader. |
| Masking of Expert Advisors | You are allowed to use EAs, but masking or concealing them is prohibited. Commercially available automated EAs are also banned. |
| Gambling, Over-Leveraging, YOLO Trading | Excessive risk-taking behavior and violating the max open lots rule are prohibited. |
| IP Address Restrictions | Using multiple IP addresses or the same IP address across multiple accounts not owned by you is a violation. |
| Rolling/Churning of Accounts | Top One Trader doesn’t allow repeatedly purchasing, resetting, cycling, or abandoning accounts that could impact the integrity or intended purpose. |
There are up to 39 Forex pairs available, 15 global indices, 2 cryptocurrencies, and 2 metals available to trade at Top One Trader. However, depending on the platform you are using, it can vary as to what is available for you. It should be noted that the largest number of products are available on Match Trader, with Trade Locker and Metatrader 5 having fewer assets. According to the site, there are several indices in the process of being added to TradeLocker, but there is no mention of bringing some of these markets to Metatrader 5. Traders will have to check this before buying a challenge if they wish to use MT5.
| Instruments | Number Available | Examples |
| Forex | 39 | EURUSD | USDJPY |
| Metals | 2 | XAUUSD | XAGUSD |
| Indices | 15 | US30 | NAS100 |
| Crypto | 2 | BTCUSD | ETHUSD |
Top One Trader offers 3 trading platforms, all of which should be familiar to the majority of traders.
MetaTrader 5
MetaTrader 5 is offered to all traders not based in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, or the US Outlying Territories. The platform is used and loved worldwide for its intuitive display, the multiple order types, the customization, and the ability to add Expert Advisors. The ecosystem has a long history of use going back years, and has been the gold standard for Forex traders.
MatchTrader with TradingView
MatchTrader is a popular platform that traders can use. With its customization and easy-to-navigate interface, many traders will find this a comfortable fit, even if they haven’t used it before. It has integrated TradingView charts, so this will be a familiar “feel” for most traders.
Trade Locker
Trade Locker is also offered for traders at Top One Trader, with the familiar TradingView charts built in. While very similar to MatchTrader, it should be noted that for a lot of traders, this will be a personal preference kind of decision between this and MatchTrader. However, Trade Locker allows the building of bots (Expert Advisors) from a “Bots Studio” that is accessible right from the menu, so automated trading is a big feature for this platform, if you are looking to do that.
Top One Trader does not offer Islamic or swap-free accounts.
There is no demo account available to traders, but Top One Trader has a spread checking account for the three platforms that you can easily access to test the conditions available.
There is a 30-day inactivity limit at Top One Trader, which falls in line with most other firms out there. You must place at least one trade every 30 days to keep the account open, with a failure to do so counting as a hard breach of the rules.
| Account Type | One-Step FLASH | Two-Step PRO | Instant Funding | Instant Prime | NOVA Challenge |
| Target: | 10% | 8% / 5% | N/A | N/A | 5% |
| Daily Drawdown | 4% | 4% | 3% | 2.5% | 3% |
| Max Drawdown | 7% (trailing) | 9% | 6% (trailing) | 5% (trailing) | 6% (trailing) |
| Leverage | Up to 1:10 | Up to 1:100 | Up to 1:50 | Up to 1:50 | Up to 1:100 |
The prohibited trading strategies remain the same for all accounts: No High-Frequency trading, no news trading on funded accounts, no copy trading with others, no Martingale strategies, no latency or grid trading, no using third parties to trade your account, no hiding of Expert Advisors, no IP blocking, no hedging, no gambling behavior, and no churning of accounts.
At Top One Trader, there are no consistency rules on most accounts. However, with Instant Funding, there is a consistency rule of 15%. This means that no one day can account for more than 15% of your total profits at the time of requesting a payout. In all practicality, this means you would have to trade a minimum of 7 days to get to the payout request phase.
There is the “Equity Stability Score” in the Instant Prime and Nova Challenges, which states that “the combined total of your most profitable trading day and your largest losing day must not exceed 20% of your total profits during the payout period.”
All traders will need to be verified before receiving a simulated funded account. The software for KYC verification is Veriff, and requires some form of photo identification, such as a driver’s license, passport, or ID card.
Traders will also need to provide proof of address, such as a bank statement, utility bill, or phone bill. They must be from the last 60 days to be accepted. Furthermore, you will need to take a selfie to verify your identity against the photo ID submitted.
Payouts at Top One Trader are processed through RiseWorks, using crypto or a bank transfer. This allows the trader to choose a faster on-chain delivery, or the standard 1-3 days bank transfer into their checking account. However, be aware that Top One Trader charges a 2% processing fee.
| Account Type | Payout Frequency | Min. Payout | Other conditions |
| One-Step FLASH | Every 14 days. (Weekly Payout Add-on available.) | 2% from the initial balance. | Minimum 3 profitable trading days. (0.5% or more) An interview may be requested. |
| Two-Step PRO | Every 14 days. (Weekly Payout Add-on available.) | 3% of the initial balance. | The maximum payout is capped at 6% of the account size, or $10,000 – whichever is lower. There is an evaluation fee refund after the 4th approved payout. An interview could be requested. |
| Instant Prime Funded | Every 14 days. (Weekly Payout Add-on available.) | 2% from the initial balance. | The profit split increases with each withdrawal. 60%, then adding 10% up to 100%, or 100% add-on available for purchase. An interview could be requested. |
| Nova Challenges | Every 14 days. (Weekly Payout Add-on available.) | 2% from the initial balance. | 90% profit split. An add-on is available that changes it to 100%. |
“To ensure the long-term stability and financial health of Top One Trader, Traders are permitted to retain a maximum of $25,000 in net profits and total withdrawals within any rolling thirty (30) day period across all trading accounts owned by the Trader. If a Trader’s combined net profits and withdrawals exceed $25,000 during any 30-day period, any excess profits may be deducted from the Trader’s account balance(s). This policy is designed to support the continued sustainability and balanced growth of the Company while ensuring fair resource allocation for the benefit of all Traders and stakeholders.” – Top One Trader FAQ
If a Trader receives:
Within the same 30-day period, the Trader has reached the maximum allowable payout amount of $25,000.
Any additional profits generated above this limit during that 30-day period may be removed from the account balance until the rolling 30-day period resets.
The $25,000 cap applies to the combined total of all funded accounts owned by the same Trader.”
The payout split on Top One Trader accounts can vary greatly, so you must take note of this before putting money into the challenge.
| Account Type | Profit Split / Add-on Available |
| One-Step FLASH | 80% / 90% (extra cost) |
| Two-Step-PRO | 85% / 100% (extra cost) |
| Instant Funding | 60% / increases with each payout by 10% (automatic) |
| Nova Challenges | 90% / 100% (extra cost) |
Top One Trader offers around-the-clock support via chat, email, and Discord. The initial contact with chat is an AI chatbot, which I found to be very helpful with most questions. That being said, a human agent is available via chat if you cannot find the proper answers via AI.
Key Finding: All of these channels are available around the clock, although the response time can be influenced by the time of day. For example, a live agent may take some time on the weekends, but this makes sense as the bulk of the need would be during the trading week.
Key positive: The chat was quicker than I thought it would be, once you ask for a human agent. Email was quick, also, and as a result, I find the customer support a strong point at Top One Trader. The Discord channel is active as well, and traders are active, making it a solid resource.
Key limitation: The chatbot is good, as chatbots go. That being said, as with all things AI-related, you are going to have mixed results if you do not prompt it in the correct manner. Phone or WhatsApp support isn’t available either.
Prop firms can be a real mixed bag when it comes to support, but at Top One Trader, I have found it to be a strength. The support is easy to reach from the website, and is reactive quickly. The email support was quick during the US session, taking just 25 minutes to respond. The live chat connected to a live agent within 4 or 5minutes.
| Channel | Address | Availability | Response Time |
| Live Chat (AI bot initially) | https://www.toponetrader.com/ | 24/7 | immediate |
| support@checkout.toponetrader.com | 24/7 (Weekends have a delay) | A couple of hours | |
| Discord | https://discord.com/invite/6UGaEA6bWr | 24/7 | Under 20 mins during the week |
I tested the AI chatbot first, with a simple question about trailing drown down, and whether or not it locked at the starting balance with the 1-Step FLASH account. It found the answer immediately, and even provided a link. That being said, when there is nuance in a question, the AI chatbot could be less effective. This is a limitation of AI itself, not this particular chatbot. You can click through to a live agent, which I found to be very helpful. I used the agent to tell me the mailing address of the company, and they answered very quickly. They also answered a question about the number of FX pairs available.
I also tested the email function and got a response within 25 minutes. I asked the question of whether or not US-based traders were allowed, and what restrictions did we face? The support agent gave me all of the information in a simple and effective format, explaining the nuances of the trading platform situation, and how Americans weren’t allowed to use Metatrader 5, and more importantly, why we aren’t.
Discord gets a response quickly as well, although I suspect the time of day could have an influence. I asked a quick question about a promo code that they were offering (60% off), and how long it was available, as well as any limitations. The question was answered by an employee about 20 minutes later.
Top One Trader has an “Educational Blueprint” that is available after purchasing an account. It is essentially a straightforward technical analysis course, which covers such things as support and resistance zones, Fibonacci, trendlines, and risk management tools. This is done via a video course, and while it isn’t a bad resource, it isn’t anything that you cannot find elsewhere.
Top One Trader offers several different types of accounts, and many add-ons to help the trader customize their experience. This is probably one of the biggest advantages of the firm, as the add-ons will make a lot of the options seem more like a customized plan than other places. The platforms are the industry standard, with many choosing to use MetaTrader 5, but there is also MatchTrader and Trade Locker available, which allow American and Canadian traders to join. That being said, the challenges aren’t for everyone.
Limitations are relevant here. The payout cap is something to be aware of, but at the same time, you can make the argument that the firm is doing what it can to keep from having a trader wipe them out. (Apex had to pay a trader over $2 million a few years ago.) The news trading rules are harsh, but if you are a longer-term swing trader, they can be worked around. The consistency rules for instant funding are harsh in some accounts, so make sure you read all the parameters for each account type.
The trading conditions aren’t bad, but they are tougher than others. I would say they are essentially mid-range when it comes to swaps and commissions in general, so I wouldn’t read too much into them. There are plenty of Forex pairs, and the leverage is reasonable on most accounts. The crypto and metals offerings are thin, with only two markets each, but the indices are varied, offering exposure worldwide. The profit split situation is a bit messy, as traders can purchase higher payout levels, but at the end of the day, the industry in general is moving away from this. Payout frequency is essentially biweekly, unless again, you are willing to pay more, which isn’t a huge issue, but something to be aware of. There is no swap-free option, so if you are looking for that, you won’t find it here.
Top One Trader is a firm for traders who are higher timeframe focused, and those who aren’t looking to trade around news events. This is a major problem for some, but not for others. This is a firm that seemingly is trying to keep its business viable and manage risk, so this is something that carries a double-edged sword feel to it, in the sense that while some of the rules may feel constricting, it also helps the trader assume they will be around for some time.
Top One Trader is a strong firm, but it isn’t geared for active traders. The most likely customer for this firm will be a swing trader, with the costs not being a factor, nor the news trading rules.
