The unemployment rate in the Philippines stood at 3.9% in May 2025, unchanged from the same month last year. The number of unemployed individuals decreased to 2.03 million from 2.11 million in May 2024, while employment increased to 96.1 million from 95.9 million. Among broad industry groups, the services sector remained the largest employer, accounting for 61.8% of the total workforce, followed by agriculture at 21.1% and industry at 17.1%. Meanwhile, the labor force participation rate rose to 65.8%, compared to 64.8% a year earlier. On average, employed persons worked 39.8 hours per week, lower than the 40.6 hours recorded in May 2024.
