Slovakia’s annual inflation rate slowed to 3.7% in April 2025 from March’s fifteen-month high of 4%, and slightly below market estimates of 3.8%. This marked the lowest reading since December 2024, as prices moderated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.2% vs 5.9% in March), health (1.9% vs 2.9%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.9% vs 6.9%). Additionally, transport costs declined for the first time in six months (-1.6% vs 1.1%). On the other hand, inflation increased food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.6% vs 3.2%), clothing and footwear (3.6% vs 3.2%), and restaurants and hotels (8.9% vs 6.7%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1% in April, easing from a 0.3% gain in the preceding period. Meanwhile, core inflation, which excludes goods with regulated prices, slowed to 2.9% from a thirteen-month high of 3% in March.
