Slovakia’s annual inflation rate edged up to 4.3% in September 2025, slightly higher than 4.2% in the previous month, but coming in just below market expectations of 4.4%. The upturn was driven by higher prices across several key categories, including transport (4.2% vs 2.1% in August), miscellaneous goods and services (6.6% vs 6.0%), recreation and culture (5.0% vs 4.6%), communication (4.8% vs 4.4%), and furnishings, household & equipment, and routine household maintenance (3.3% vs 3.1%). In contrast, price growth moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.6% vs 3.9%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.5% vs 6.1%), clothing and footwear (3.3% vs 3.6%), housing and utilities (2.5% vs 2.7%), education (9.8% vs 10%). Meanwhile, costs remained unchanged for restaurants and hotels (9.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.2% in September, in line with market forecasts and slightly above the 0.1% increase in August.
