Let’s see which news releases could move the currency markets on Wednesday, the 10th of May. This is the Economic Calendar.
ECB President Mario Draghi will speaking at 11 AM, discussing the impact of monetary policy at the Dutch House of Representatives. The speech is worth a closer look, as President Draghi’s comments often cause volatility in the forex markets.


US Import Price Index for April is out at 12:30 PM GMT. A drop in fuel prices pushed the total lower in March, although other sectors did see price increases.
US Federal Budget Balance for April follows at 6 o’clock in the evening. The March deficit was larger than anticipated, especially when compared to 108 billion dollars a year ago.
Coming up next at 9 o’clock is the latest Reserve Bank of New Zealand Monetary Policy Statement, which is an important release for Kiwi Dollar traders. Moreover, Governor Graeme Wheeler will hold a press conference an hour later, and questions about the declining Kiwi Dollar could be of particular interest for traders.
More New Zealand data follow at 10:45, when the Food Price Index for April is published. This release does provide an early look on consumer price trends, as New Zealand CPI is released only on a quarterly basis.
UK RICS House Price Balance for April is out at 11:01. The Index stood unchanged in March as supply reached record-low levels.
Japanese Bank Lending for April will be available at 11:50. Lending grew more than expected in March, following a 2.8% gain the previous month.
And yet another high importance event for Kiwi Dollar traders is out at 1:10 AM, when Governor Graeme Wheeler will be testifying on the Monetary Policy Statement before the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee in Wellington.
