Latest Updates
The unemployment rate in India eased to 5.1% in August of 2025 from 5.2% in the previous month, equaling the record low from April of this year. The result contrasted with the market consensus that the jobless rate would increase to 5.3%, aligned with other economic indicators to show some traction in the Indian economy despite aggressive tariffs passed by the United States in the period. The unemployment rate for the male population fell to a five-month low of 5%. In the meantime, the female labor force participation rate rose to 33.7% from 33.3% in the previous month, supported by growth in both rural and urban areas of the country.
