Food prices in Singapore rose by 2.8% year-on-year in June 2024, holding steady for the third straight month while staying at their softest pace since February 2022. Within food, excluding food servicing services, cost rose further for bread & cereals (3.6% vs 3.4% in May), milk, cheese & eggs (1.3% vs 1.8%), non-alcoholic beverages (2.6% vs 3.5%), oils & fats (1.7% vs 2.3%), vegetables (4.7% vs 3.0%), sugar, preserves & confectionery (1.6% vs 0.4%), and other food (5.1% vs 4.2%). In contrast, prices dropped further for meat (-0.9% vs -0.8%), fish & seafood (-5.0% vs -4.2%) and fruits (-0.7% vs -0.8%). Among food servicing services, prices continued to increase for restaurant foods (4.4% vs 4.1%), fast foods (3.4% vs 3.7%), hawker food (3.4% vs 3.7%), and catered food (3.3% vs 3.3%).
