The Services Sri Lanka PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index) is based on data collected from a representative panel of 140 companies based in the Sri Lanka's service sector. The index tracks variables such as sales, employment, inventories and prices. A reading above 50 indicates that the services sector is generally expanding; below 50 indicates that it is generally declining.

Sri Lanka's Services PMI surged to 69.8 in March 2025, the highest in three months, up from 56.5 in February, reflecting a marked improvement in services sector activity. Business activity surged with festive demand boosting wholesale and retail trade. New businesses (68.3 vs 58.5 in February) increased, mainly driven by expansion in financial services, wholesale and retail trade, other personal services, insurance, and accommodation, food and beverage-related activities. Employment (61.9 vs 59.6) rose as companies hired more workers for the festive season. Meanwhile, Backlogs of work (48.4 vs 45.6) increased, while Expectations for activity (73 vs 81.3) decreased.
