Sweden Unemployment Rate

Sweden’s unemployment rate stood at 8.9% in April 2025, unchanged from the same month of the previous year. The number of unemployed people held steady from a year earlier at 513 thousand, while the employment increased by 34 thousand to 5.26 million. The employment rate edged higher by 0.1 percentage points to 69%, while the labor force participation rate ticked up by 0.1 percentage points to 75.7%. The average total number of hours worked per week amounted to 157 million. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate fell to 8.6% from 8.8% in the preceding period.
