Turkey's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 8.6% in April 2025, the highest level since November 2024, accelerating from an upwardly revised 8% in the previous month. The number of unemployed individuals surged by 203,000 to 3.063 million, marking a five-month high. Meanwhile, employment declined by 316,000 to 32.359 million, pushing the employment rate down to 48.8% from a revised 49.3% in the previous month. The employment rate for men stood at 65.8%, while for women it was significantly lower at 32.2%. Additionally, the labor force participation rate edged down to 53.4% from a revised 53.6%. On the other hand, the youth unemployment rate climbed to a four-month high of 15.7% from a revised 15.3% in March.
