The UK’s annual core inflation rate edged lower to 3.5% in September 2025 from 3.6% in the previous month, missing market expectations of 3.7% and marking the lowest level since May. Services inflation held steady (at 4.7%), while goods inflation inched up (2.9% vs 2.8%). On a monthly basis, core consumer prices were unchanged, following a 0.3% rise in August and registering the weakest reading since a decline recorded in January.
