The annual core inflation rate in the United Kingdom slowed for a fourth consecutive month to 3.5% in May 2024, pointing to the lowest figure since October 2021 and matching market forecasts. The CPI goods annual rate fell further (-1.3% vs -0.8% in April) while the CPI services annual rate eased to 5.7% from 5.9%. Monthly, core consumer prices increased by 0.5%, the least in four months, after a 0.9% rise in April.
