European Central Bank President Draghi is speaking soon in Brussels. And FOMC Members Charles Evans and Neel Kashkari will talk in the U.S. later today. The Euro has remained under early pressure and Gold is in a tight range.

FOMC Members on the Schedule, Cautious Opening Expected on Wall Street

It will be a quiet day of data for the U.S today. However, two important speeches will come from Federal Reserve members. Charles Evans and Neel Kashkari will speak at different events today. Last week’s cautious Fed Statement will be compared to the two Fed speeches today and could shake Wall Street. The three major Indexes went into the weekend showing an ability to sustain their higher values but are expected to open cautiously today.

Nikkei Index’s Massive Month, Yen Stays Weak Against U.S. Dollar

Although the Flash Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index came in below its estimate this morning from Japan with a result of 52.6, Japanese equities have continued to attract buyers. The Nikkei equity exchange is up almost 5 percent the past month. And a Services Producer Price Index report will come from Japan tomorrow. The Yen has remained weak against the U.S Dollar.

Attention Turns to Mario Draghi, Broad Markets Could React

With the election of Angela Merkel now a reality for European investors, attention will turn to European Central Bank President Mario Draghi again. A German Business Climate reading this morning came in slightly weaker than expected, but it is Mario Draghi who could impact trading on the continent today if he produces any surprise comments. The Euro has been slightly weaker early and is near the 1.19 level against the U.S Dollar.

Tight Trading Range Early, Central Bank Speeches Could Move Gold   

Gold has seen a tight trading range early and remains near the 1293.00 U.S Dollars an ounce level as traders position themselves. Because of the wave of central bank members speeches coming today, the precious metal could see fast conditions develop later.

Draghi Speaking Soon in Brussels, Fed FOMC Member Charles Evans

Mario Draghi will begin speaking at 13:00 GMT in Brussels and his comments will be listened to carefully.

  • 16:40 PM GMT U.S., Federal Reserve Member Evans Speaking
