Nvidia Corporation (NVDA) stock gapped to a 59-day high of $230.47 Thursday after the company released Q2 fiscal 2027 results on Wednesday after the market closed, turning a bullish earnings response into an opening gap rather than a grind. Volume spiked to a 47-day high, reflecting broad participation. Notably, the advance followed a pullback and test of support near the 50-day moving average and the 50% retracement of the prior advance. The pullback low of $207.25 from Monday is now a higher swing low, and that higher low is the hinge for the rest of the setup.
There are two other technical clues that suggest a continuation of strength as the larger bullish trend begins to reassert itself. On August 5 NVDA triggered an upside breakout of a double bottom pattern and a downtrend line. Resistance near the 50-day moving average had already been reclaimed the previous day. Following that breakout, a high of $227.92 was reached in mid-August, thereby completing a 78.6% Fibonacci retracement of the prior decline.
That led to the recent pullback, which tested support near the neckline of the double bottom (roughly), the downtrend line, and the 50-day moving average. Those tests have been followed by Thursday’s strength, which is bullish behavior and indicates the likely continuation of the bull trend.
On the weekly chart, long-term dynamic support represented by the 50-week moving average has been retained since it last began being tested as support at the end of March. The obvious initial upside target for NVDA is its prior peak of $236.54.
Although there are several potential new-high technical targets for the stock, two rising ABCD patterns keep the map simple. A smaller ABCD pattern that begins from the second bottom of the double bottom pattern shows an initial 100% projected target at $245.16, while a larger ABCD pattern that begins from the March low suggests $261.48 can eventually be reached.
