Chart

I began reviewing forex brokers in 2021, after a decade in the trading industry in Chicago, where I was a professional trader at the CME and a licensed futures and forex broker. This is my first review of TIOmarkets for FXEmpire. I tested Standard and Raw accounts using the MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 platforms in June and July 2026. I opened the account with TIO Markets Limited. Some features and services may vary depending on where you reside. Here is a summary of my findings on the broker:

Quick Verdict on TIOmarkets

🟢 Best Fit For: Active, short-term traders who want to use MetaTrader platforms. Flexible trading conditions like nano lot trading make it worth a look for traders looking to test Expert Advisors (EAs) in the live market with low risk.

🔴 Less Ideal For: Traders looking for strong regulatory oversight. Some traders may find available range of instruments limited, as the broker does not offer soft commodities, ETFs, and bonds.

Trading Style / Profile Advantages Drawbacks Our Verdict
Scalping Advanced market depth via MT5, raw spreads Lacks VPS hosting ✅ Acceptable Choice

TIOmarkets Overview

TIOmarkets was founded in 2019 and is based in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. UK residents benefit from FCA regulation. All other clients are assigned to the Saint Vincent offshore entity, regulated by MISA. Traders can access 950+ instruments via MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. There are 4 account types to choose from: Nano, Standard, Raw, and VIP Black.

My Key Takeaways on TIOmarkets

  • The main Mwali entity of TIOmarkets is offshore, meaning that client accounts have very little regulatory oversight.
  • In my tests, Standard account trading costs were better than our industry benchmarks in almost every asset. But Raw account trading costs came in worse than average in most assets.
  • I was surprised that the raw spreads account did not provide much of a cost advantage, except for crude oil and shares.
  • I found that swap fees were 44% better than our benchmark in gold.
  • Educational materials impressed me as better than average, with an in-depth video course and useful MetaTrader platform tutorials.
  • I had a mixed experience with customer support. Response times were fast via live chat, email, and phone, but the agents were not always able to provide satisfying answers.
  • When recording execution speed via the MT5 demo account, I got better-than-average times in every asset I tested, for example, 90ms in EUR/USD.
  • Deposits/withdrawals are a bright spot, with a wide range of payment methods and fast processing times.

TIOmarkets Pros and Cons

  • Lacks VPS hosting

  • No soft commodities, ETFs

What Sets TIOmarkets Apart?

In my tests, Standard account trading costs were competitive in EUR/USD, GBP/JPY, gold, Apple, Tesla, and Bitcoin, and the Raw account provided competitive pricing on Apple and Tesla. Swap fees were average or sometimes much better than average. Proprietary features include client sentiment data, copy trading, and a well-designed client portal.

TIOmarkets Full Review

Trust

TIOmarkets has three entities, two of which are offshore. UK residents benefit from Tier-1 FCA regulation. But my research revealed that all global clients are assigned to the Saint Vincent/Mwali entity. The broker states that it provides negative balance protection and keeps client funds segregated. I found room for improvement in transparency, as conditions relating to fees, margin, and leverage could be more clearly stated.

How TIOmarkets Protects Your Account

I reviewed the Client Agreement to understand what protections TIOmarkets offers its clients. Here is what I found:

  • Client funds are held in segregated accounts from the company’s own funds, although they may be pooled in omnibus accounts with other clients’ money.
  • TIOmarkets states that it provides negative balance protection, meaning clients cannot lose more than the funds they initially deposited.
  • Clients of the UK entity benefit from a compensation fund in the event that the company becomes insolvent. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) insures client accounts for up to £85,000. But keep in mind that the other entities do not offer any account insurance.

Stability and Transparency

I found out that TIOmarkets was founded in 2019, suggesting that it has gained a fair amount of industry experience. The LinkedIn company page states that it has 51-200 employees, reflecting a small to medium-sized operation. I went through the Client Agreement on the broker’s website, but some details relating to leverage, margin requirements, and fees were unclear. For example, it states, ‘margin requirements can change at any time without notice’. It also states that the company can change commissions, spreads and financing charges without prior notice.

Is TIOmarkets Safe to Trade With?

I would say the safety of TIOmarkets depends on which entity you use. The UK entity is authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), providing strong oversight and client protection. But the Saint Vincent/Mwali entity has much lighter regulatory oversight and fewer investor protections.

Fees

I tested TIOmarkets both Standard and Raw accounts to get a broad overview of trading costs. Standard account costs came in better than average on all assets I tested, with the exception of WTI crude oil. Curiously, the Raw account trading costs were not much better and, in some cases, even higher than on the Standard account. Raw account commissions of $6 came in very close to our industry benchmark of $5.99. Swap fees and credits were substantially better than average in gold and GBP/JPY. I also found that TIOmarkets charges a relatively high inactivity fee, but deposits and withdrawals are free.

TIOmarkets Spreads

I tested the spreads at TIOmarkets using the Standard and Raw accounts during the London open and just after the New York open on 30 June 2026. At these times, the market is typically highly liquid with the tightest spreads.

Instrument Standard Account Live Spread AM Standard Account Live Spread PM Standard Account Industry Average Raw Account Live Spread AM Raw Account Live Spread PM Raw Spreads Account Industry Average
EUR/USD 1.1 Pips 1.1 Pips 1.2 Pips 0.6 Pips 0.6 Pips 0.06 Pips

Bitcoin $37 $37 $51.45 $37.85 $40.37 $23.69

My tests showed that the Standard account delivered competitive spreads that were generally in line with or better than the industry average. The Raw account was worse than our benchmarks in almost all assets, except for shares and the Dow Jones 30.

TIOmarkets Commissions

In addition to spreads, TIOmarkets charges commissions on some asset classes on its Raw account:

Assets Raw account Commission Industry Average
Forex, commodities, indices, shares, crypto  $6 per lot round trip $6

As seen in the table, its commissions are almost exactly at our industry benchmark.

TIOmarkets Swap Fees

In the table below, you can see the Swap Long (the cost/credit of holding a buy position overnight) and the Swap Short (the cost/credit of maintaining a sell position overnight) for one full-sized contract. I recorded the data on 30 June 2026.

Instrument Swap Long Industry Average
EUR/USD Charge of $8.53 Charge of $7.64
GBP/JPY Credit of $18.27 Credit of $7.74
Gold Charge of $36.53 Charge of $65.65

The charge for holding EUR/USD came in close to average. But the credit for holding GBP/JPY and the charge for holding gold were much better than most competitors in my testing.

Are TIOmarkets Fees Competitive?

To help you understand how much you’ll pay to trade each instrument, I calculated the cost of trade using the formula: spread rate x pip value + commission rate (swaps are not included).

Instrument Standard Account Industry Average* Raw Account Industry Average*
EUR/USD $11 $11.54 $12 $6.99
GBP/JPY** $13.76 $17.48 $14.30 $12.55

Apple $15 $31.78 $21 $26.14

*FXEmpire database, 66 brokers, updated June 2026
**The base currency values are converted to US dollars.

Standard Account: I found the Standard account offered competitive pricing on EUR/USD, GBP/JPY, gold, Apple, Tesla, and Bitcoin. The only weak spot was WTI crude oil.

Raw Account: The Raw account provided competitive pricing on Apple and Tesla. But the costs were worse than the average raw spreads account in every other asset. My main takeaway was that TIOmarkets’ Raw account came out more expensive than its Standard account for some popular instruments, which is unusual. Moreover, my calculation showed that it’s less competitive than raw accounts of many brokers we reviewed this year.

TIOmarkets Non-Trading Fees

According to the broker’s website, TIOmarkets charges a monthly $30 inactivity fee when an account has been dormant for 3 months. The fee is higher than average and the grace period is relatively short, so this is something to watch out for.

Platforms and Tools

TIOmarkets offers MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) across desktop, web, and mobile. In my tests, execution speeds on the demo account were better than average. Both MT4 and MT5 offer rich charting, advanced order types, and popular features like 1-click trading. The broker has also recently released a proprietary mobile app, which I found to be well-designed and feature-rich. Alternative third-party platforms like cTrader are not available. I rate the platform offering at TIOmarkets as average for the industry.

Platform/Tool Suitable For
MetaTrader 4 (Desktop, web, mobile) Multi-asset traders, day traders, scalpers, money managers
MetaTrader 5 (Desktop, web, mobile) Multi-asset traders, day traders, scalpers, money managers, traders looking for more technical indicators and time frames, advanced depth-of-market (DOM)

TIOmarkets MetaTrader 5 Desktop

For this review, I tested the desktop version of MT5. The platform has stood the test of time and offers the features to satisfy the majority of traders, including day traders, scalpers, and swing traders. The interface feels outdated, but MT5 has always been reliable in my experience. Personally, I like the large buy and sell buttons, which let you easily trade from the chart.

Watchlists allow you to track the live prices of your favorite instruments. Alerts are a handy feature that can free you up from the screen by notifying you when prices hit predefined levels. And the platform has 1-click trading and trading from the chart, which are essential for providing the speed that day traders and scalpers need.

Charts

MetaTrader 5 has professional-grade charting, with over 80 technical indicators and 40 drawing tools. Timeframes span from 1 minute to 1 month, giving traders plenty of room to zoom in and out in their analysis. I like that chart layouts can be customized to your preference, and chart windows can be detached and moved to other monitors.

Orders

MetaTrader 5 supports the full range of order types, including market, limit, stop loss, and trailing stop loss orders. You can set time-in-force conditions to pending orders, so that they will expire if they are not filled within a preset timeframe. The range of options gives traders flexibility and helps to accommodate scalping, day trading, swing trading, and automated trading.

MT5 Web Platform

The MetaTrader 5 web platform offers a polished, browser-based trading experience that feels more modern and similar to TradingView. It combines a clean layout with simple navigation. While testing it, I felt a contrast with the more advanced desktop platform, making it the best bet for beginners.

Charts

The charting package is solid for a web-based platform, with 30 technical indicators, 24 drawing tools, 9 timeframes, along with support for candlestick, bar, and line charts. 1-click trading and trading from the chart are available for speedy order entry.

Orders

MT5 web supports all major order types, including market, limit, and stop loss orders.

MT5 Mobile App

I tested the TIOmarkets MT5 mobile app on my iPhone 15 Pro Max (iOS). The app is user-friendly, with an uncluttered interface. I found it easy to manage watchlists, analyze charts, and place trades from my smartphone. I also appreciate the economic calendar that helps traders stay on top of major economic events while on the move.

Charting is comprehensive for an app, with candlestick, line, and bar charts, 36 indicators and drawing tools, and 9 timeframes from 1 minute to 1 month. One-click trading and trading from the chart are available for fast order entry. When it comes to orders, you can access market, limit, and stop loss orders.

I found it easy to place trades, analyze charts, and browse watchlists from the MT5 app. But keep in mind that there is no cross-device synchronization, so your MT5 desktop settings, like chart and watchlist configurations, are not automatically synced with the app.

TIOmarkets Mobile App

I found the TIOmarkets app to be highly intuitive with a sleek design. Recently released and available via Android and iOS, the app features TradingView charts with 100+ indicators and drawing tools across seven timeframes. A symbol search bar makes it easy to pull up instruments, and customizable watchlists help you stay on top of market movers.

Orders can be placed fast using one-tap trading, and there is support for limit and stop loss orders. Traders can monitor open positions, review trade history, set alerts, and switch between demo and live accounts. The app also supports deposits, withdrawals, and internal fund transfers. Other features include biometric login and light and dark mode themes. I rate the app as above average and a positive addition to the TIOmarkets platform lineup.

Copy Trading

The TIOmarkets copy trading platform lets experienced traders become strategy providers by publishing their performance and setting their own fees. The platform integrates with MetaTrader, and clients can browse strategy providers and automatically copy trades in real time. In comparison to leading copy trading brokers like eToro, the range and quality of strategies appeared to me as currently quite limited, though.

TIOmarkets Execution

Execution Model

As with all CFD providers, TIOmarkets is the counterparty to client trades; whether risk is internalized or hedged externally (A-book/B-book) is not disclosed.

Execution Speed

I measured TIOmarkets’ execution speeds using the Standard demo account on June 30, 2026. Here are my results:

Instrument Recorded Speed Industry Average
EUR/USD 90 ms 148 ms
GBP/JPY 108 ms 220 ms
Gold 95 ms 242 ms
Crude Oil 97 ms 201 ms
Dow Jones 30 106 ms 209 ms
Germany 40 (DAX) 94 ms 277 ms

Execution speeds were consistently better than average in every asset I tested, indicating fast, reliable order fills.

Tradable Instruments

TIOmarkets’ instrument range is a genuine strength, with 950+ CFD instruments, including currency pairs, metals, energies, indices, shares, and crypto. I found the strongest areas to be indices, crypto, and shares, which have a better range than most competitors. I counted 60 forex pairs, at the upper end of the 30-60 range stated in our benchmark. I rate the selection as varied enough for traders focused on the most popular instruments and for most trading styles. But the broker could do better by introducing soft commodities, ETFs, and bonds.

Instrument Number Type Industry Average
Forex Pairs 60 Major, minor, exotic 30 – 60
Commodities 7 Metals, energies 5 – 10
Indices 13 US, European, Asian stock indices 10 – 15

ETFs 50 – 70
Cryptocurrencies 39 Major, minor 10 – 20

Customer Support

I had a mixed experience with TIOmarkets’ customer service. The broker offers 24/7 support via live chat, email, and phone. Response times were fast (usually under a minute via live chat), but the quality of responses was a bit disappointing., for example, getting directed to a page on the website rather than a direct answer. On balance, I rate the support as average for the industry.

Customer Support Channels

Live Chat Email Phone
24/7 via website/client portal support@tiomarkets.com +357 24 259 325

TIOmarkets Customer Support Test

I tested support across all mediums. Emails were replied to within 24 hours, chat support answered within a minute or so, and I was able to reach an agent by phone within a couple of rings. That’s better than average in terms of speed.

I tested agents with questions ranging from simple (what is the minimum deposit?) to harder ones (what are the raw account commissions on Bitcoin?). I received decent answers to the basic inquiries, but when I pressed on certain areas, like whether the Seychelles entity is operational, the agent didn’t provide a straight answer. I feel that TIOmarkets has a good foundation, but could improve by having more experienced agents.

Deposit and Withdrawal

Deposits and withdrawals at TIOmarkets are a real strength. You can deposit and withdraw funds via bank wire, credit/debit card, digital wallet, crypto to fiat, and mobile money. TIOmarkets states that deposits and withdrawals are generally free. However, fees may apply to withdrawals below $20, and a $25 processing fee may apply if a client funds their account and withdraws without trading. Processing times are relatively fast compared with the industry average.

Note: I did not deposit or withdraw funds for this review. My assessment was based on the availability and range of payment methods, fee transparency, and payment times as listed on the TIOmarkets website.

Account Types and Terms

I found that TIOmarkets offers 4 account types: Nano, Standard, Raw, and VIP Black. The minimum initial deposit is only $20, and there are 6 available base currencies (the currency in which your account is denominated). I set up demo Standard and Raw accounts, which took me under 10 minutes, and I found the client portal intuitive and well-designed.

How to Open an Account with TIOmarkets

To open a live account with TIOmarkets, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Enter your name, email, country, date of birth, phone number, and address.
  2. Select base currency.

(Verified July 2026)

TIOmarkets offers 4 account types to suit different trading styles and experience levels. The Standard account offers commission-free trading (all costs are reflected in the spread) and unlimited leverage. But for active traders, I’d recommend the Raw account, which offers lower costs with spreads from 0.0 pips and a $6 per lot round-trip commission.

VIP Black targets high-volume traders by combining tight spreads with commission-free trading (all costs reflected in the spread), but be ready to deposit at least $1,000 for opening this account. If you are a beginner, the Nano account could be a great starting point because it features a minimum deposit of only $20 and supports trade sizes as low as 0.001 lots, which allows you to gain experience in the live market and test strategies while keeping risk at a minimum.

The client portal consolidates account management, deposits, copy trading access, and the forex dashboard in one screen. I found it easy to navigate, and setting up my demo accounts was easy.

Demo Account

Demos are available for Standard, Raw, VIP, and Copy Trading account types. You can choose between MT4 and MT5, select your preferred base currency (USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, ZAR, CAD), and set your available leverage (1:50 to 1:500).

Islamic Account

I also learned that TIOmarkets offers a Sharia-compliant trading account that eliminates overnight swap charges on certain instruments.

What Leverage Does TIOmarkets Offer?

The TIOmarkets Standard account offers an optional unlimited leverage feature on eligible MT5 instruments (21 forex pairs and 3 metals). Leverage is subject to eligibility criteria and temporary restrictions during major news events to help manage risk. Unlimited leverage may sound appealing, but it is highly risky.

While leverage can increase potential returns, it also significantly increases risk. When using leverage, even small market movements can result in large losses.

Note: According to TIOmarkets, 59% of UK retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider.

TIOmarkets Restricted Countries

TIOmarkets does not accept residents of the following countries as clients: Belgium, the United States of America, North Korea, Afghanistan, Iran, Russia, Sudan, Syria, Palestine, and OFAC countries not already included in the list.

Research

I spent a week going through the research materials available at TIOmarkets, and the FXStreet news feed, economic calendar, sentiment data, and forex dashboard tool stood out to me the most. I felt that TIOmarkets has made a good start, but has room for improvement by adding in-depth analysis and actionable trade ideas.

The TIOmarkets research offering is a little below average and may not meet the needs of active traders. There is a useful forex dashboard and an economic calendar, but news content is AI-generated and thin on analysis, with no in-depth reports or actionable trade ideas.

Market news is provided by FXStreet. The stories are mostly focused on forex, commodities, and major economic releases. I noticed that the flow of content is steady with multiple updates each hour. But I found the reports a bit thin, often just a few analyst quotes strung together. The reports are made using AI but have the oversight of a human editor. I would have liked to see more in-depth analysis and trade ideas.

The forex dashboard, available on the website and via the client portal, provides a convenient snapshot of the forex market by bringing together key data in one place. You can view the strongest and weakest currencies, top-gaining and losing pairs, and live client sentiment at a glance. I think this is a useful tool for identifying market trends and conditions from a single screen.

Education

TIOmarkets’ education section earns a slightly above-average score with 3 comprehensive ebooks (Trading for Beginners, MetaTrader User Guide, and Forex Decoded), a 15-lesson YouTube video course called Why Trade Forex, and a range of practical educational articles via the website. I feel that the broker covers many important topics in both text and video format, and I liked the focus on practical themes like platform tutorials. I rate the section as a bit stronger than the industry average.

TIOmarkets’ educational articles are available via the website and offer beginner and intermediate level resources covering forex and CFD fundamentals, MT4/MT5 tutorials, and technical and fundamental analysis. The section also covers trading strategies, risk management, and trading psychology. I liked the coverage of specific strategies like mean reversion, carry trade, Wolfe Wave, and Turtle Trading strategies.

I’ve also watched a few videos from the TIOmarkets’ 15-lesson YouTube course and can say that it’s meaty and worth a look. Videos vary from 10 minutes to half an hour and cover why and how to trade forex, MT4/ MT5, market analysis, trading styles, and creating a trading plan. It’s accessible to beginners while also touching on key concepts like market structure and creating a trading plan.

The MetaTrader user guide ebook explains how to install MT4 and MT5, how to navigate them, open charts, place and manage trades, use stop-loss and take-profit orders, and apply basic risk management tools. I found it a useful reference, but it lacks advanced topics like how to use Expert Advisors (EAs) for automated strategies.

The Bottom Line

TIOmarkets earns its 4.1 overall score. Better-than-average spreads via the Standard account and fast execution are genuine strengths. UK traders benefit from strong FCA regulation, but global clients face meaningful regulatory gaps through the Saint Vincent/Mwali entity. My live testing showed that the raw account offered less cost advantage over the Standard account, which was quite unexpected.

I liked the broker’s proprietary tools, including the easy-to-navigate client portal and forex dashboard tool. The educational materials are strong, with in-depth ebooks, guides, and a video course. And you can access all these by depositing as little as $20 for setting up Standard and Nano accounts.

I rate TIOmarkets as best for active MetaTrader traders who are looking for tight spreads, fast execution, high (up to unlimited) leverage, and practical tools. On the other hand, it is not ideal for traders outside the UK looking for strong regulation, instruments beyond CFDs, and for the most competitive conditions via a raw spreads account.

What I didn’t test: I did not open a live account, and I did not test deposits and withdrawals with real funds.
